Dog gene.
PRNP:p.Asp159 , found in dog and other species, postulated to be protective.
Expressing Cfam\PRNPD159N.UAS induce a progressive decrease in climbing (under the control of Scer\GAL4BG380) and a decreased lifespan (under the control of Scer\GAL4da.PU), as compared to controls. Upon expression under the control of Scer\GAL4ey-OK107, adult mushroom body axonal lobes are normal at day 1, but by day 40 there is progressive loss of volume, resulting in thin lobes with abundant blebbing, as compared to controls; Kenyon cell clusters are significantly smaller at day 40 due to massive cell loss compared to day 1.
