UASp regulatory sequences drive expression of Pink1 (coordinates 451-2166 of the gene). The protein is targeted to the mitochondrial outer membrane by fusion at its N-terminal end to Tom20, and is also tagged with GFP.

      Females expressing Pink1UASp.GFP,Tag:Mito(Tom20) under the control of Scer\GAL4nos.PU exhibit a reduction in the mitochondrial DNA replication (EdU staining) in ovaries and lay eggs with significantly reduced mitochondrial content and hatching rate when compared to controls.
