FLP-mediated removal of the 2nd and 3rd exons (from the progenitor TI{TI}unc-4FRT) generates unc-4 lacking the homeodomain. The Disc\RFP3xP3.cUa marker is also absent.
Adults containing clones of unc-4null in their central nervous system and peripherial nervous system (via expression of Scer\FLP1UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-537.4 in unc-4FRT flies) fail to fly; and exhibit erect wings, impaired grooming and climbing.
Adults containing clones of unc-4null in their central nervous system (via expression of Scer\FLP1UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4dpn.EE in unc-4FRT flies) fail to fly; and exhibit erect wings and mild grooming defects.
Adults containing clones of unc-4null in the chordotonal lineage and epithelial cells (via expression of Scer\FLP1UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4ato.3.6 in unc-4FRT flies) exhibit coordination defects in leg movements, defects in three-leg rubbing and walking (during which flies are slow and fell often).
Adults containing clones of unc-4null in the 7B hemilineage (via expression of Scer\FLP1UAS.cDa under the control of both Hsap\RELAey-MI08729-Tp65AD.0 and Scer\GAL4Dbx-MI05316-TG4DBD.0 in unc-4FRT flies) impairs or interrupts take-off behavior.
unc-4null clones of hemilineage 7B exhibit altered projections into the leg neuropils.
