A mesectoderm enhancer from the sim locus, in which two CSL motifs have been replaced with an SPS motif from the m5/m8 enhancer of the Enhancer of split-Complex, is fused upstream of the eve promoter, 5'UTR sequence containing 24 Tag:MS2 loops and sequence encoding lacZ.
