Term ventral furrow ID (Ontology) FBbt:00000096 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition Furrow of the embryo that forms at the beginning of stage 6, and extends to cover most of the length of the ventral midline (Campos-Ortega and Hartenstein, 1985). It forms mesoderm and endoderm (Campos-Ortega and Hartenstein, 1985). The lips fuse shortly after invagination, so that it is no longer visible as a furrow after stage 7 (Campos-Ortega and Hartenstein, 1985).[ FlyBase:FBrf0041814 ]
