| Definition | Longitudinal connective of the embryonic/larval nervous system that forms the anterior continuation of several tracts of the ventral nerve cord into the brain after they anastomose in the subesophageal ganglion (Nassif et al., 1998; Hartenstein et al., 2015). It is composed of three tracts; the lateral, posterior and medial cervical tracts (Nassif et al., 1998; Hartenstein et al., 2015). Dorsally, after passing the foregut, it branches into the supraesophageal commissure and protocerebral connective (Nassif et al., 1998).
