Term transmedullary neuron Tm5 ID (Ontology) FBbt:00003793 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition Transmedullary neuron that terminates in lobula layer 5 with bleb-type arborizations. It displays fine arborizations in medulla layers M3 and M6 and other, depending on the subtype. CommentPre- versus postsynaptic innervation judged by scoring of terminal morphology from figures in Fischbach and Dittrich (1989) as assessed by FlyBrain Neuron DB. In these figures, the neuron has characteristics of the three Tm5 subtypes.
