General Information
Term mesonotum ID (Ontology) FBbt:00004580 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition Dorsal part of the external adult mesothorax. It is composed of four partially fused regions, the prescutum, scutum, scutellum and postnotum (Fabian et al., 2016).[ FlyBase:FBrf0037040 FlyBase:FBrf0233988 ]
Also Known As "alinotum" ; "mesothoracic notum" ; "mesothoracic tergum"
Comment Sometimes referred to as the notum. Strictly, notum refers to the upper part (tergum) of a thoracic segment (McAlpine, 1981), so there are 3 nota; the pro-, meso- and meta-notum.
