General Information
Term adult olfactory receptor neuron Ir75c ID (Ontology) FBbt:00051495 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition Olfactory receptor neuron that expresses the Ionotropic receptor (Ir) 75c and the co-receptor Ir8a (Prieto-Godino et al., 2017; Benton et al., 2025). Its dendrite transduces signals from antennal coeloconic sensillum ac3 type II and its axonal terminals are found in glomerulus DL2v (Prieto-Godino et al., 2017), bilaterally (Schlegel et al., 2021). It has a stronger response to propionic acid and a weaker response to butyric acid, compared to Ir75b neurons (Prieto-Godino et al., 2017). It develops from an Nab precursor (Benton et al., 2025). CommentPrieto-Godino et al. (2017) showed that these cells are distinct from the Ir75b cells and that previous belief of co-expression was due to transcriptional run off from Ir75c.
