Definition

Digestive system of the adult, comprising the alimentary canal, mouthparts, labellar glands, salivary glands and Malpighian tubules (Miller, 1950). The adult alimentary canal and salivary glands arise anew from precursors during metamorphosis (Bodenstein, 1950).
