Term SMP neuron of the dopaminergic PPL1 cluster ID (Ontology) FBbt:00048269 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition Bilateral MB-SV neuron that has terminals in the superior medial protocerebrum, in addition to the area surrounding the vertical lobe (Xie et al., 2018). It develops from a larval DAN-f1 neuron (Truman et al., 2023).[ FlyBase:FBrf0238545 FlyBase:FBrf0255928 ]
Comment PPL1-bi-SMP in Truman et al. (2023) judged to correspond to SMP in Xie et al. (2018) based on figures and descriptions in papers and FlyCircuit 3D image (TH-M-000039) in Virtual Fly Brain - bilateral and relatively dorsal arbors compared to other PPL1 neurons - cp231004.
