Mitochondrial aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases catalyze the ligation of amino acids to their cognate tRNAs in mitochondria. They are encoded by nuclear genes and are imported into mitochondria with the guidance of a 'mitochondrial targeting sequence'. (Adapted from FBrf0230668.)
Notes on Group
The products of SerRS-m and Slimp form a heterodimeric complex that aminoacylates mitochondrial tRNA[Ser] (FBrf0250600).
