Peptidoglycan recognition proteins (PGRPs) are pattern recognition molecules of the innate immune response that bind peptidoglycans, which are cell wall components of many bacteria. PGRPs possess a 160 amino acid domain with similarity to N-acetylmuramyl-L-alanine amidases. In D.mel only some PGRPs are catalytically active. (Adapted from
