Description
Description
The U7 snRNP is involved in histone mRNA 3' end processing. Sm proteins are common to all small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (snRNPs), assembling in a stepwise manner onto snRNAs, forming a ring-shaped core RNP structure. (Adapted from FBrf0168021 and FBrf0208608).
Notes on Group

U7 snRNP is related to, but biochemically distinct from, spliceosomal snRNPs. The Sm core contains U7-specific Sm-like proteins, Lsm10 and Lsm11, replacing SmD1 and SmD2 in the canonical heptameric Sm protein ring (FBrf0168021, FBrf0208608).
