Description
Description
Dolichol-phosphate-mannose (DPM) synthase is an evolutionary conserved protein complex localized to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). It comprises three subunits, of which DPM1 has catalytic activity. DPM synthase catalyzes DPM synthesis from GDP-mannose and dolichol-phosphate on the cytosolic side of the ER. The synthesized DPM is subsequently translocated to the luminal side by a putative flippase machinery where it is utilized as a donor for mannosylation in protein glycosylation pathways.
