Description
Peptidase family M17 includes both catalytically active metallopeptidases and inactive 'non-peptidase homologs' belonging to MEROPS peptidase family M17. This family has undergone expansion and diversification during D. melanogaster evolution, resulting in a single functional LAP (grsm) and a set of enzymatically inactive LAPs expressed specifically in sperm (termed S-LAPs).
