Description
Description
Acylphosphatases catalyze the hydrolysis of acylphosphates, com- pounds containing a carboxylphosphate bond such as 1,3-bis phosphoglycerate, carbamoylphosphate, succinylphosphate, acetylphosphate and beta-aspartylphosphate. These molecules play very important metabolic and physiological roles as intermediates in glycolysis, the tricarboxylic acid cycle, pyrimidine and urea biosynthesis and in the activity of membrane ion pumps. Acylphosphatase is one of the smallest enzymes known. (Adapted from PMID:9118002.)
Notes on Group

CG10970 shows some similarity to other acylphosphatases, but this is relatively weak and the protein lacks the primary domains associated with acylphosphatase activity - it is therefore omitted from this group.
