Description
Description
Heme peroxidases are heme enzymes found in bacteria, fungi, plants and animals, which exploit the reduction of hydrogen peroxide to catalyze a number of oxidative reactions, involving a wide variety of organic and inorganic substrates. (Adapted from PMID: 20211593.)
Notes on Group

D. melanogaster heme peroxidases are defined by the InterPro signature "Haem peroxidase, animal-type" (IPR019791).

The peroxidase homology domain of Duox lacks many amino acid residues essential for efficient peroxidase function (FBrf0230212) but has been shown to possess peroxidase activity (FBrf0190609).
