Actin maturation protease specifically removes the N-terminal acetylated methionine during cytoplasmic and muscle actin biosynthesis. It is conserved across all species known to modify actin N termini, and is likely the universal enzyme for the generation of mature actin. (Adapted from PMID: 36173861.)
