ROMO1 family proteins share the first two transmembrane domains of the Tim17 protein family. ROMO1 family proteins are inner mitochondrial membrane proteins with roles in the TIM23 protein translocation complex, regulation of Reactive Oxygen species production and, in vitro, are capable of forming a non-selective cation pore.
