Description
Description
There is a single Drosocin gene in D.mel, which through furin-mediated cleavage yields Drosocin and Buletin peptides. Drosocin is an proline-rich antimicrobial peptide which acts to inhibit bacterial protein translation. Buletin does not appear to possess direct antimicrobial activity but does promote survival during Providencia burhodogranariea infection. (Adapted from FBrf0263699.)
