ATP-dependent protein transmembrane transporters catalyze the transport of a protein across a membrane using ATP-hydrolysis. In metazoans and fungi, this activity is limited to the mitochondrial inner membrane AAA-ATPase Bcs1 (BCS1L in mammals), which translocates folded Rieske iron-sulfur protein (RFeSP) across the inner membrane during respiratory complex III assembly.
