    Expression of Scer\GAL4-directed Avic\aeq is restricted to specific cell types and can be used in the study of the pharmacology of calcium signalling events in tissues. The neuropeptide CAP2b causes rapid calcium mobilisation in a dose-dependent manner within the Malpighian tubule, the response is absolutely dependent on the presence of extracellular calcium. Application of thapsigargin also increases cell calcium levels and is also dependent on the presence of calcium.
