Overview

Myopathy, lactic acidosis, and sideroblastic anemia (MLASA) is a small group of disorders caused by mutations affecting the mitochondrial respiratory chain. Some forms are severe, with onset in early infancy, other forms are variable and may not be symptomatic until early adulthood. A list of MLASA subtypes, as defined by OMIM, can be found below, with links to more detailed reports for subtypes that have been investigated using fly models.
