Myopathy, lactic acidosis, and sideroblastic anemia (MLASA) is a small group of disorders caused by mutations affecting the mitochondrial respiratory chain. Some forms are severe, with onset in early infancy, other forms are variable and may not be symptomatic until early adulthood.
