Ubx and DIP1 form heterodimers that bind DNA; DIP1 alone does not bind the DNA probe tested; Ubx alone binds DNA more weakly than the Ubx-DIP1 heterodimer.

Various combinations of Ubx and DIP1 were mixed with [32]P labeled DNA. DNA-protein complexes observed by EMSA were used to deduce protein-protein interactions.
