mEFTu2 binds D-armless tRNA mt:tRNA:Ser-GCT most strongly, as well as cloverleaf tRNA mt:tRNA:Cys-GCA but not mt:tRNA:Lys-CTT. mEFTu2 binds tRNAs carrying small amino acids (not bulky amino acids).

Interaction in vitro; bait produced as recombinant protein in bacterial system; prey produced by in vitro transcription.
