Subject: Help FlyBase please David We are working with the Umea stock Centre (which, btw, now has EU funding !) to ensure that all of the gene/aberration/allele symbols they use are 'valid' FB names. This will mean that we can then link FB genes, alleles and abs directly to the stock list. As you can imagine this is not easy. Umea have the following from you which _appear_ not to be in FB - at least not under a name we can recognise. If you could give us further information on them we can create records for these. We would like to know: present name - if different any synonyms references - if any cytology limits genetic limits mutagen and anything else anyone else might find useful. We will curate yr reply as a Personal Communication to FlyBase. 58000. Df(3R)P-16 from Ish-Horowicz 58200. Df(3R)P-58 87A4,5-6;87A9,from Ish-Horowicz 58900. Many thanks Michael Organization: Biological Research Center Subject: stocks Dear Mike, Yes, I got your message. Unfortunately, I do not have any of these stocks. I hope they still exist in Umea. If I am correct P58 is an X-ray induced deficiency which was isolated on the basis of w+ loss of TE-98 in our laboratory. I do not know anything about P-16 but based on the name it has to come from the same experiment. All the other T-labeled stocks are X-ray derivatives of TE-28 but they were not characterized by cytology because none of them had a genetically unique break in the 87 region. That is all what I know. Otherwise I hope that everything is fine with you. Biological Research Center Hungarian Academy of Sciences Institute of Genetics H-6701 Szeged, POB 521 HUNGARY
