Here's what I know about E97. We got a bit of 3' sequence from the
homeobox region, but none that overlapped with the PPH17 sequence. In
addition, the sequence was done only once and that sloppily, so was highly
inaccurate . However, Dyana Dalton, a grad student in my lab, did cross
hybridize Markus Noll's genomic clone containing PPH17 and our genomic
clone containing the E97 homeobox. They didn't give a signal indicating
sequence identity (besides a weak signal due to the homeobox homology), so
we concluded that they are likely to be different homeobox loci in 57B1-5.
