Dear Gunter,
in October you wrote to FlyBase, pointing out that the FlyBase gene
with the ID number FBgn0008635 codes for beta-COP (we had it wrongly as
beta-prime-COP) and that you had cloned the 'real' beta-prime-COP.

your e-mail you have given cytological information for both
beta-prime-COP and alpha-COP that we do not have in our files and is
not in the DNA accession records for these genes. The reason I am
writing to you is that I would like to include this information,
specifically:
beta-prime COP: cytological localization: 34B5-34B9
alpha COP: cytological localization: 62A10-62B5
as a personal communication from you to FlyBase, as it is always very
useful to have cytological information about genes. Am I correct in
thinking that you obtained the cytology by in situ hybridisation
(rather than deficiency mapping) - as we like to include the method by
which the cytology was determined, if possible.

the cytology was indeed obtained by in situ hybridisation and verified by
comparison of my sequences with the already sequenced P1 clones from BDGP.
