Hi \-
.... Here is some additional info. unipolar disorder is equivalent to the
gene l(2)k05916 and so should be updated along with that page.
Thanks

Subject: upo and k05916
Hi Sam,
to follow up on Aubrey's reply \- about merging l(2)k05916 with upo.
The map data we have for upo places it at 53D (from Chung and Kunes,
1997, Dev. Biol. 186(2): 354). The map data we have for l(2)k05916
places it at 54B10--14 (BDGP \- by in situ hybridisation to P{lacW}).
54B10--14 is uncomfortably far from 53D, suggesting the possibility
that the lethality of l(2)k05916 is what corresponds to upo (though we
have no data at the moment that suggests upo mutants are lethal),
rather than the P{lacW} insertion. Can you shed any light on this for
us?
Thanks for your help,
Rachel.

I would have to look back at the map data for upo, but I do know that
l(2)k05916 is a noncomplementing allele of upo, so if there is generally
high confidence in the BDGP P mapping, then we should go with that map
position. How's that?

Hi Sam,
Thanks for getting back so quickly \-
>but I do know that
>l(2)k05916 is a noncomplementing allele of upo
great \- do you also know for sure that the P{lacW} insertion is the
cause of the noncomplementing phenotype? If so then I'm happy to merge
and go with the BDGP mapping \- as the work progresses and upo gets
placed onto the genome the map location will consolidate.
Thanks,
Rachel.

Yes, the P is non-complementing.
