Subject: CG6854 comments: The flybase entry for CG6854 is somewhat misleading. You indicate that the gene encodes a CTP synthase. In fact the locus appears to encode at least two different proteins that result from alternative splicing. One is a CTP synthase and the other is a transcription factor with homology to Adf-1, Stonewall, and Dip3. The protein sequence to which you have included a link, Q9VUK9, is the transcription factor sequence. The transcription factor coding region may be completely contained within an intron of the CTP synthase transcript. But there is also a third transcript , which, if real, gives rise to a hybrid protein that is part transcription factor and part CTP synthase. realname: Al Courey
