Subject: RE: Helping FlyBase: ADRC-10453
Rachel,
The gene nmd appears to correspond to CG5395. Inverse PCR with the original
nmd allele indicated that the insertion is in the 5' UTR of CG5395, and the
positions of the next closest genes make it unlikely that they are affected.
Sequence analysis of the gene makes it a good candidate as well- the yeast
homolog is an outer mitochondrial membrane protein. We are doing a rescue
experiment to confirm that we have cloned the right gene.
..
Thanks,
Karen

Rachel,
On a separate note, it looks like CG3210 is the same as Drp1 and
dynamin-2. I've only done some database searches and sequence gazing,
but all the entries are referring to a dynamin homolog in 23A.
Thanks,
Karen
