Subject: FlyBase query
Dear Drs. Hafen and Nairz,
I am curating your paper for FlyBase:
Rintelen et al., 2003, Development 130(15): 3479--3490
..
1. sevE(f4)-lacZ
could you tell me some more details about this unpublished construct so
that I can get the details of it correct in the database (I would
record this information as a personal communication from you to
FlyBase).
It would be useful to know:
a. is it an enhancer trap or promoter fusion construct
b. which gene is the enhancer trap in or which promoter drives
expression of lacZ in the construct
c. which vector is it in (this helps with working out the marker genes
e.g. w or ry)
..

It is an vitro construct \- a sevenless enhancer fragment was cloned into the
reporter plasmid pX27 (Segalat et al, 1994).
..
