Subject: Note on Df(3L)v65c cytology
Polytene squashes by Ian Duncan and myself show that Df(3L)v65c is
associated with a heterochromatic inversion. Ian judged the breakpoint
junctions to be 65D1-3/81 het and 64F2-5/het. Noncomplementation with
Df(3L)v65c may be due to position effect variegation of wild type alleles
on the deletion chromosome rather than deletion of genomic sequences.
