Subject: Re: new balancers
Hi Rachel--
\*I CyO-KG00000
\*U CyO, P{y+mDint2 wBR.E.BR=SUPor-P}KG00000
is really the same thing as
CyO, P{y+mDint2 wBR.E.BR=SUPor-P}RR1
described under the FBti0012145 and FBba0000396 entries. When I was in
Gary Karpen's lab, I got the CyO chromosome with the P{SUPor-P} insertion
from Pam Geyer's lab, where Robin Roseman (the 'RR' of 'RR1') isolated the
insertion. Gary sent the stock to Hugo Bellen's lab where it was used in
FBrf0179132. It's the same CyO insertion of P{SUPor-P} that was used as
the P source in the following two papers, too:
Dobie, K.W., Kennedy, C.D., Velasco, V.M., McGrath, T.L., Weko, J.,
Patterson, R.W., Karpen, G.H.
Identification of chromosome inheritance modifiers in Drosophila melanogaster.
Genetics 2001 157(4):1623--1637
FBrf0135802
Yan CM, Dobie KW, Le HD, Konev AY, Karpen GH.
Efficient recovery of centric heterochromatin P-element insertions in
Drosophila melanogaster.
Genetics 2002 161(1):217--229
FBrf0149015
So, it seems to me that P{SUPor-P}KG00000 should be listed as a synonym for
P{SUPor-P}RR1.
Muchos gracias,
Kevin
