Subject: Helping FlyBase: ADRC.06-60021 Dear Takayuki, We are currently curating the abstracts for the upcoming 47th (Houston) Annual Drosophila Research Conference, for FlyBase. I am writing in connection with your abstract: Isolation of an endoplasmic reticulum protein as a candidate ligand for Draper, a Drosophila phagocytosis receptor. You mention a gene symbol that is new to FlyBase, p47K. Do you know which of the Genome Project CG annotations your gene corresponds to? All the CGs have corresponding gene records in FlyBase already and we don't like to make duplicate records for what is actually the same gene unless we can't avoid it. The CG symbols become synonyms when an annotation is named with a more descriptive or functional name. Also, if p47K has picked up a more descriptive name/symbol since you submitted the abstract then this would be a good time to tell me so I can get it into the database. With best wishes, Rachel. Subject: Fly Base Dear Dr. Rachel Drysdale, Thank you for your email regarding the abstract submitted by Takayuki Kuraishi to the 47th Annual Drosophila Research Conference. I am responding to your inquiry as the corresponding author of the relevant paper. The CG annotation for the gene coding for p47K is CG1837, and the gene encoding another protein to be referred to in Takayuki's presentation corresponds to CG5809. Please send me any furtherquestions. Thank you again for kind notification. \-- Yoshinobu NAKANISHI Grad Sch Med Sci, Kanazawa Univ Shizenken, Kakuma-machi, Kanazawa Ishikawa, 920-1192 Japan
