Subject: update about l(s)027714 Hi, Dear Sir/Mdm; Here I update some information about the l(3)s027714 gene(or allele). this p-element inserts at Blue(bluestreak) (but I can't remember the exact insertion site as I did the inverse PCR for such a long time ago and I didn't keep the sequence result.) And I'm not sure whether the lethality is indeed caused by this insertion, as I found a second lethal hit in this line: Dhc64c, for it can't complement the Dhc64C mutations. So the PlacW inserts at blue gene, and additional lethal mutation at Dhc64C gene region. a gentle reminder for people who wants to work on the l(3)sXXXXX line: this collection more often contains at least one more insertion or lethal mutation which you have to find out by various mapping, so people should be very careful when using this collection. Rescue data or fine structure deficiency mapping would be required to resolve this problem properly. So we will make a note under l(3)S027714 that it may correspond to blue, but leave the l(3)S027714 record unchanged for now. I have generated a record for new lethal allele of Dhc64c, named Dhc64CS027714, and noted that it is separable from l(3)S027714S027714. These changes have been attributed to your email, which I've archived as a personal communication to FlyBase from you. Thank you for your input. Rachel for FlyBase.
