P{hs-su(Hw).GAL4BD}22 was donated to the Bloomington Stock Center by 
Thomas Preat of the Genes et Dynamique des Systemes de Memoire, CNRS, 
Paris. It is a viable insertion into chromosome 3. Accompanying notes 
said that it expresses a Su(Hw) protein with the GAL4 DNA binding domain 
upon heat shock. Binding of the chimeric protein to UAS sequences in 
transgene insertions can block enhancer-promoter communication and 
prevent gene expression.
