Subject: Helping FlyBase: ADRC-60805 Dear Holly, We are currently curating the abstracts for the upcoming 48th (Philadelphia) Annual Drosophila Research Conference, for FlyBase. I am writing in connection with your abstract: The endocytic regulator dRabenosyn is a novel neoplastic tumor suppressor. You mention a gene symbol that is new to FlyBase, Rabenosyn. Do you know which of the CG annotations your gene corresponds to? All the CGs have corresponding gene records in FlyBase already and we don't like to make duplicate records for what is actually the same gene unless we can't avoid it. The CG symbols become synonyms when an annotation is named with a more descriptive or functional name. Also, if you have settled on a short symbol for your gene now would be a good time to let me know what it is, as then I can enter it in the database from the outset. Best regards, Rachel. Subject: RE: Helping FlyBase: ADRC-60805 Hi Rachel, We do in fact know the corresponding CG number for Rabenosyn. It is CG8506, and the short symbol we have been using is rbsn. Let me know if you would like any additional information from me! Cheers, Holly
