comments: Dear Flybase,
It has been brought to my attention that the translocation T(1;Y)B146 is listed as an allele of mud.

I would like to share with you data that I have collected which suggests that the translocation breakpoint is not within the mud gene.
Several years ago as part of a mapping project in the lab of Howard Nash, I probed salivary gland chromosomes of T(1;Y)B146 flies with labeled Tamkun library cosmids cos99 and cos57. I found both of these probes to give signal in the distal portion of the X which is fused to the Y centromere. Sequencing the ends of both of these cosmids locates them centromere proximal to mud. Taken in its entirety, the breakpoint in T(1;Y)B146 is not within the mud gene, but located at least 150kb centromere proximal to mud.
I hope this information is of some use, and please contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Robert
