Here is a correction to our 2002 Drosophila Research Conference abstract (Edwards, Vepakomma, et al. 2002.)  Regarding Pez (CG9493), mutants that lack detectable Pez protein, as well as flies with overlapping deletions for Pez, are viable. Putative lethal Pez mutants we reported in our 2002 abstract were subsequently found to map to Cpr, the adjacent gene, and do not affect Pez.
