I'm working in Montminy lab at Salk Institute. The lab discovered Creb and CRTC (TORC in flies) genes. The lab PI, Dr. Marc Montminy, asked me to contact Flybase to see how to rename fly TORC to CRTC or other names to avoid confusion with Tor (Target of rapamycin) gene or TORC (TOR complex).
Current fly TORC gene comes from "Transducer of regulated CREB-binding protein". In mammals, it has been renamed to CRTC (CREB-regulated transcription coactivator) to avoid confusion with Tor or TORC complexes.
