The following information accompanied stocks donated to the Bloomington Stock Center by Jim Mason, National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. It was provided to him by Tibor Torok, University of Szeged.
prodU is an EMS-induced stop codon truncating the protein after amino acid 94.  It has the same phenotype as the null allele prodk08810.
prodE is an EMS-induced hypomorphic allele with a Gly to Glu substitution at amino acid 61.  It is a late larval lethal with normal disc morphology and no melanization.  Unlike null alleles, it is not cell lethal in somatic clones.
