In Marygold et al. (FBrf0205398), we concluded that RpL26 (FBgn0036825) is not a Minute gene based on erroneous information. Our basis for deciding that RpL26 is not associated with haploinsufficient Minute phenotypes was that Df(3L)BSC20 (FBab0029835) deletes RpL26 and that Df(3L)BSC20 heterozygotes are normal. We recently found that we had used incorrect breakpoints to conclude that Df(3L)BSC20 deletes RpL26. Using the correct breakpoints, it is apparent that Df(3L)BSC20 does not delete RpL26 and that there is a gap in genomic deletion coverage between Df(3L)BSC844 and Df(3L)BSC220 in the region containing RpL26. Two observations suggest that RpL26 is haplolethal or haplosterile. First, we know of no deletion that has ever been reported for this region. Second, three attempts to generate a deletion for this region using FLP-mediated recombination between FRT-bearing transposon insertions failed during the work described in Cook et al. (FBrf0219066). By the criteria outlined in Marygold et al., we would categorize RpL26 as "likely Minute". Kevin Cook and Steven Marygold
