We would like to request that FlyBase create or split several FBte records to correspond to TE sequences that have been identified previously in the literature, but do not currently have a FlyBase FBte identifier. 1. Create a FBte record for Dpse\mini-me - This element was first described in Richards et al 2005: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15632085 - The DNA sequence and annotation of Dpse\mini-me was curated by Steve Schaeffer (2 April 2004) and is derived from AC131959 2. Create a FBte record for Dsub\GEM - This element was first described in Vivas et al 1999: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10095103 - The DNA sequence and annotation is derived from AJ131629 3. Split Dbif\P-element (FBte0000598) into distinct Dbif\P-element_O and Dbif\P-element_M FBte records - Hagemann et al (1994) report that there are two very distinct P-element-like families in Drosophila bifasciata: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8052236 - Currently only a single record is present in FlyBase, which merges data from both TE families - The DNA sequence and annotation of Dbif\P-element_O is derived from X71634 - The DNA sequence and annotation of Dbif\P-element_M is derived from X60990 4. Split Dnet\R1-element (FBte0000925) into distinct Dnet\R1A and Dnet\R1B FBte records - Gentile et al (2001) report that there are two very distinct R1-like families in Drosophila neotestacea: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11158382 - Currently only a single record is present in FlyBase, which merges data from both TE families - The DNA sequence and annotation of Dnet\R1A is derived from AF248067 - The DNA sequence and annotation of Dnet\R1B is derived from AF248068
