CG43206 was created as a new gene model in release 5.34 of the genome annotation in 2011 (FBrf0212683) - that is, after the key publications identifying the subunits of the mitochondrial OXPHOS complexes (FBrf0184015, FBrf0226220, FBrf0204833). The following lines of evidence demonstrate CG43206 is a paralog of the Complex III subunit, UQCR-6.4 (also known as UQCR11): i) the CG43206 protein has InterPro domain "Cytochrome b-c1 complex subunit 10" (IPR015089), and the only other protein with this domain is UQCR-6.4. ii) DIOPT states that CG43206 orthologs are UQCR11 genes. iii) DIOPT states that CG43206 and UQCR-6.4 are paralogs. Thus, CG43206 should be named UQCR-6.4L (Ubiquinol-cytochrome c reductase 6.4 kDa subunit-like) to follow the format of other Complex III genes. (FlyBase Genome Annotators, 2011)
