We have reviewed a set of genes that our pipeline is annotating with frameshifts or unexpected internal stop codons in other Drosophila species, and some look like suspect genes in D. melanogaster. So these could use some review: . CG32368 – questionable coding potential. Should this be lncRNA? . CG15375 - Overall I'm not sure what to make of this one. There's a paralog in D. melanogaster, CG14708, that is annotated as single exon. Something like GeneID: 117566341 might be the original state for the CG15375/ GeneID:31356 copy, with predominantly one exon and a bit of CDS in a 5' exon. In Dmel, that paralog may have lost its 5' intron, and also acquired a frameshift. . CG44335 - questionable coding potential. Should this be lncRNA? . CG43337 - questionable coding potential. Should this be lncRNA? . Note from FlyBase (LC): CG15375 looks like a pair of pseudogenes (3’ exon as a separate gene); related to CG14708.
