According to Ying Zhou's dissertation ("Analysis of Morgue, a novel ubiquitination protein that functions in programmed cell death", University of Massachusetts Amherst, 2012), morgue429 was isolated in the screen described by Schreader et al. (2010; FBrf0212937) involving P transposase-induced excision of P{SUPor-P}Elp3KG02386, which is inserted immediately upstream of morgue. Zhou said morgue429 extends 1,348 base pairs from the site of the P insertion at 2L:4444713 (R6) to the bases encoding lysine 408. This deletion removes ~80% of the coding sequence; consequently, morgue429 is likely a null allele.
