The following information accompanied stocks donated to the Bloomington Stock Center by Nick Brown, University of Cambridge.
blo was identified as CG8740 partly from the noncomplementation of Df(2R)bloDelta10 with preexisting blo alleles.
Df(2R)bloDelta10 is a deletion with coordinates  2R:8735800 ;8759843 (R6) generated by FLP-mediated recombination between the FRT-bearing insertions P{XP}d09037 and PBac{WH}f06886. In addition to deleting blo, it also deletes the intronic genes CG42615 and  lncRNA:CR44277 .
P{blo.GFP} expresses blo protein with a C-terminal GFP tag under the control of blo regulatory sequences.
P{blo.GFP}1 is a homozygous viable and fertile, second chromosome insertion.
P{blo.GFP}2.1 is a third chromosome insertion.
