The Smu11 allele bears an 11-base pair deletion (...AGCAGTATCTGAAGGAGTCCAACC-11 deleted nucleotides-CTGCAAACGTTACAGGTtagTACTT...) that gives rise to an early stop codon (lower case). The truncated Smu11 protein only contains the first 22 original N-terminal amino acids followed by 6 ectopic ones. The 11 deleted bases have the following coordinates: 3R:18980700..18980710 . The Smu12 allele contains a 12-base deletion (...GCAGTATCTGAAGGAGTCCAACCT-12 deleted nucleotides-GCAAACGTTACAGGTTAGTACTTG...) that removes 4 amino acids (M24-K25-T26-L27) from the LISH domain but preserves the rest of the open reading frame. The 12 deleted bases have the following coordinates: 3R:18980698..18980709 . Both alleles were generated using CRISPR. See FBrf0261882 Even-Ros et al., 2025, Nat. Commun. 16(1): 2596 for details.
